On July 22, 2006 I did my first tandem here at Skydive Tampa Bay. I came out here with three other people and completed my first skydive. My intention for my first jump was, like many, a bucket list thing. As soon as my feet touched the ground I knew I was addicted. My first jump was with Doug Kirk who also did my training and taught me how to not die from jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. From there on I decided that I wanted to invest in some camera gear so I could film friends, fun jumpers and the occasional tandem chase. Just like many others, the economy took its toll and it was decided that I had to sell all of my gear to make ends meet. I called Skydive Tampa to help me out selling my gear and Doug Kirk answered and told me to come out and fly practice video for first time jumpers. I got the job and the same people who I have been jumping with helped me stay in the sport. The people who work and jump here have all taught me many new things over the years from new flying styles to creating twenty to thirty foot tall bonfires (mushroom cloud include). I am extremely grateful to call Skydive Tampa my home and the people who work and fun jump here I consider my family. A special thank you to everyone who has been a part of my skydiving life and who made me a Skydive Tampa ‘Vidiot’.
